|Jörg Männer graduated in medicine at the Medical University
of Hannover (MHH) in 1987. He started to work in the Department of Embryology
at the Georg-August-University of Göttingen in 1988. In his doctoral
thesis (1988-1992) he studied the contribution of pericardial villi to the
development of the epicardium in chick embryos. Studies on the role of extracardiac
tissues in normal and abnormal development of the embryonic heart lead to
the Habilitation in 2000.
From April 2001 to October 2002, he has held the position of the provisional director of the Department of Embryology and has administered the position of a professor for Anatomy (C3).
Since November 2002, he works in the Department of Anatomy and Embryology at the Georg-August-University of Göttingen (Director Prof. Dr. C. Viebahn). He is the leader of the group “Cardio-Embryology”.
